macOS
=====

The macOS installer places the tools under
``/usr/local``. Simply double-click the installation package
to install the software.

After installation, files are in
``/usr/local/calypsi-!targetLowercase-``, where ```` is
the installed version. Each the Calypsi tool chain release creates a new
directory, preventing overwrites of previous installations.

To simplify tool invocation, the installer script adds symbolic links
from ``/usr/local/bin`` to the installation directory. Ensure
``/usr/local/bin`` is in your ``PATH`` environment variable to
use the most recent installed version of the Calypsi tool chain.
The installer also creates a symbolic link from
``/usr/local/lib/calypsi-!targetLowercase`` to the installation directory,
making it easy to refer to the installation without a version number.

Setting the ``PATH``
--------------------

To set the ``PATH`` environment variable on macOS, edit
``/etc/paths`` and add ``/usr/local/bin``.
